Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a full-time Addiction Counselor for our Outpatient Program in Metairie, LA. You will conduct group therapy, provide psychoeducation, and support clients with coping skills and recovery tools, collaborating with clinical staff to track progress.

Required is a Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or related field; state licensure (LPC/LCSW or CIT) and substance abuse experience are essential. Master's degree strongly preferred.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client's challenges and needs.
• Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools.
• Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to keep track of client challenges and progress.
• Escalate any significant client concerns to Clinical Director.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted.
• Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting is completed.

What You'll Do

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client's challenges and needs

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
• Valid state licensure / certification necessary to practice in this role, i.e. LPC, LCSW or CIT
• Substance abuse experience required
• Excellent observational, collaborative and interpersonal skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Compassionate, dignified character which models recovery principles
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality
