Job summary

St. John’s Community Health in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a License Vocational Nurse (LVN) for a regular full-time role. You will provide skilled nursing care under the direction of CMO, Nurse Director, or Nursing Manager, and contribute to quality patient outcomes.

Travel to multiple clinic locations within the service area is required. Must have at least 2 years of vocational nursing experience, graduate of accredited LVN program, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years actual vocational nursing experience (ER, medical office, or hospital care).
• Able to travel to multiple sites within service area.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to function independently and as a team member.
• Graduate of an accredited LVN program.
• Proficient with Venipuncture and performing laboratory support.

Responsibilities

• Organize morning workflow and ensure patients are in rooms by 8:30 AM.
• Provide limited triage of patients in collaboration with lead clinician.
• Oversee rapid HIV testing, including QA and training for MAs.
• Provide basic wound care per written protocol.
• Guide clinical staff to ensure efficient patient care.
• Assist provider with minor surgery as needed.
• Support clinical staffing through education and training.
• Follow policies on patient flow and compliance with regulations.
• Monitor and track quality metrics and outreach.

Under the direction of aCMO, Nurse Director, or Nursing Manager, provides care to patients in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and courteous manner consistent with scope of practice and following established policies and protocols.The LVN contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through techniques that support and achieve positive outcomes in patient care.Must be able to travel to different clinic locations requested by Nursing Director/Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of 2 years actual vocational level nursing experience, such as: emergency room, medical office (pediatric, OB/GYN, or other specialty), or hospital care.
• Able to travel to multiple sites within service area.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organize getting the morning started – trouble shoot if there is a delay or snag, expedite as needed to ensure that patients are in the room by 8:30 AM
• Limited, basic triage of patients, consistent with scope of practice and in collaboration with lead clinician, to expedite waiting patients or overbook walk-in patients based on medical urgency.
• Oversight of rapid HIV testing, including quality assurance and competency training for MAs
• Basic Wound care according to written protocol.
• Provide guidance and counseling to clinical staff to ensure efficient patient care and support.
• Assist provider with minor surgery/as needed.
• Support clinical staffing (MA, Extern) by way of education and clinical training.
• Follow policies and procedures relating to patient flow, customer service and compliance with regulations pertaining to clinical area.
• Directly responsible for monitoring and tracking quality metrics and outreach.
