Facility: Kennestone Hospital

Position: Licensed Practical Nurse - Oncology Marietta

Shift: PRN Day

The LPN works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Manager and functions within the LPN Scope of Practice. Responsibilities include providing patient care, preparing patients for exams, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care, recording treatments in medical records, and patient and family education. The role may serve as a preceptor for new LPN colleagues. Local travel is required, and float staff may work across Cobb Hospital HODs, all within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Direct Patient Care
  • Assess and manage patients' needs following physician orders with RN oversight.
  • Perform routine nursing procedures under RN supervision.
  • Access and de-access ports, administer medications within scope.
  • Provide culturally sensitive, relationship-based patient care.
Coordination of Services for Episode of Care
  • Coordinate care with RN and team members.
  • Inform RN or supervisor of patient condition changes.
  • Develop and revise care plans with RN.
Patient / Caregiver Education
  • Foster self-care and caregiver support.
  • Use teach-back methods to ensure understanding.
Communication and Documentation
  • Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Check voicemails and emails daily.
Staff Education and Professional Development
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing education.
  • Stay current in oncology patient care knowledge.

Other duties as assigned. Complies with all WellStar policies and standards.

Minimum Requirements
  • Practical Nursing Diploma from an accredited school.
  • Current Georgia professional licensure.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous healthcare experience, especially in oncology or outpatient settings.
  • Strong assessment, clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation and scheduling flexibility.
