Base pay range

$65,052.00/yr - $69,693.00/yr

Overview

Employed by PAGNY for The Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) of New York City Health + Hospitals (H+H), this role involves delivering medical and mental health care, discharge planning, and providing comprehensive services within the NYC jail system. Nurses collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide patient care, education, and support, participating in planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care under the supervision of RNs and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients.
• Measure & record vital signs in the electronic health record.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Monitor catheters and dress wounds.
• Assist with patient positioning, walking, and transferring.
• Collect samples for testing and perform routine lab tests.
• Administer prescribed medications and document accordingly.
• Provide patient education and record all care accurately.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including direct care and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
• Float among clinical services as qualified and scheduled.

Emergency Response

• Respond to medical emergencies, providing care such as CPR, AED, bleeding control, etc.
• Monitor patient condition during transport and assist with transfers.
• Document treatments and maintain equipment hygiene.

Physical Demands

• Lift up to 50 pounds, with some tasks requiring lifting up to 100 pounds.
• Stand for extended periods and possess fine motor skills and visual acuity.

Schedule

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday: 4pm-12am. Nurses are required to work every other weekend. This position is unionized through 1199 and offers 1199SEIU benefits.
