Job summary

Shreve Memorial Library in Shreveport is seeking an entry to mid-level library assistant. Under supervision, you will support public services, handle reference and readers' advisory, assist with youth programs, and help with circulation and outreach.

Requires a high school diploma; paid customer service experience is preferred. Schedule typically Mon–Fri 9:00–6:00 with potential Sunday shifts; $17.50/hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Paid customer service work experience with frequent public interactions.
• Experience planning and presenting programs for audiences using books and crafts.
• Experience working in a library is advantageous.
• College coursework completed is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Public Services: reference, readers' advisory, youth services, circulation, outreach and more.
• Plan and present programs to targeted audiences and promote library services.
• Assist patrons with databases, digital resources, Internet usage, and hardware.
• Help with processing materials, shelving, and basic filing tasks.
• Open/close building and participate in staff meetings; travel as needed.
