Job summary

Abilene Public Library in Abilene, TX is seeking an Library Assistant to provide prompt customer service, shelve returned materials, and assist the circulation team with check-in and check-out.

Under supervision, you will direct patrons, maintain displays, and ensure organization of the collection. Requires high school diploma and 6 months customer service experience; ability to lift up to 150 pounds; evening/weekend availability.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in a customer service position is preferred.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Physical ability to move up to 150 pounds with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Shelves materials accurately and straightens the collection with attention to detail.
• Shelf-read the collection and help create displays.
• Straighten and maintain attractive public areas and seating.
• Check in and out library materials at the circulation desk as needed.
• Direct patrons needing assistance to staff in a friendly, helpful manner.
