Job summary

Prince William County Government’s Potomac Library seeks a Library Technician to deliver high-quality customer service, support daily desk operations, and assist patrons with technology.

You will support collection management, coordinate with staff, and engage with the community at outreach events. 37.5 hours weekly; starting wages $21.14–$26.65 per hour; comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of customer service experience.
• Experience with collection maintenance: recalls, weeding, catalog updates.
• Experience as a team lead or supervisor.
• Cash handling experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly frontline customer service and act as desk lead in the supervisor's absence to manage workflow and daily reports.
• Help patrons use computers, copiers and software; deliver basic tech training to staff and the public.
• Maintain the library collection; coordinate recalls and withdrawals; liaison between Material Services and public service staff.
• Accurately handle cash transactions and process daily financial reports; may serve as Passport Acceptance Agent.
• Represent the library at community outreach events and promote services to the public.
