  • Duration: Up to 120 Days

The Asian and Middle Eastern Division, Middle East & South Asia (MESA) Section, is offering an opportunity for a qualified individual at the GS-07 level (with one year time-in-grade) to serve on a full-time, 120-day detail without promotion as a Library technician in the ASME Division, MESA Section.

Responsibilities:

The library technician responsibilities include but are not limited to opening boxes, serials check-in, call number labeling, and end-stage processing of monographs from overseas offices in Cairo, Islamabad, Jakarta, and New Delhi. The candidate will be willing to work closely within a well-organized team and offer insights to improve productivity and workflows. The incumbent will report directly to the MESA Section Head and have robust opportunities to gain knowledge and experience working within a dynamic, international environment.

  • Ability to use integrated library systems, applications, and other information technologies.
  • Knowledge of library metadata rules, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to acquire and process analog and digital library materials.
  • Ability to communicate concisely and effectively in speech and writing.
  • Ability to work closely and cooperatively with an efficient team.
  • The applicant should also provide the name and email address of their immediate supervisor.

Eligibility: This opportunity is open LCSG permanent staff who have permission from their supervisor.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (flextime); telework is an option (2 days a week)
