Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking a Security Officer for the Parsons Branch location. This full-time, non-exempt role starts at $19.20–$20.20 hourly, with benefits and opportunities for growth.

You will patrol, deter theft, assist customers, and respond to incidents to keep staff and patrons safe. Responsibilities include de-escalation, incident reporting, and collaboration with law enforcement when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of relevant customer service or security experience or training.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
• Ability to operate library technology including PC, email, and MS Office.

Responsabilités

• Patrols buildings and grounds to prevent theft and address irregularities following post orders.
• Use de-escalation techniques to handle disruptive behavior and protect people and property.
• Greet customers, answer questions, and participate in organization-wide initiatives and events.
• Respond to safety hazards or security incidents and document findings in reports.
• Ensure building is secure at closing and staff and customers depart safely, completing closing checklists.
• Maintain professional appearance and report uniform needs to Security management.
• Carry and operate required equipment and report equipment needs promptly.
• Collaborate with law enforcement as needed and assist in emergency drills and training.
• Assist with testing security equipment and assist physically challenged customers during entry/exit.
• Provide first aid in medical emergencies and contact professionals as appropriate.
• Document incidents according to guidelines and escalate serious issues.
• Serve as on-call Officer or Dispatcher as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
