Job summary

Qualifications

• Read and write basic English with good grammar.
• Familiarity with basic computer hardware and software.
• Ability to alphabetize and sort materials using a numerical system.
• Experience in public contact or public service is preferred.
• Ability to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Sort, return, and place materials on shelves in adult, teen, and children's circulation areas of library and storage collection
• Log-off computers and perform closing duties such as picking up books, magazines, limited trash, and reminding patrons of closing
• Follow a weekly shelf reading schedule to keep books neat and in order
• Provide limited patron advisory services and assist patrons in finding materials in the stacks
• Retrieve items from storage area, general circulation shelves, and library archives
• Retrieve books returned to outside book drops
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and agencies, and the general public
• Maintain familiarity with and execute safe work procedures associated with assigned work
• Perform other related duties as required
