Job Overview

To partner with teaching staff in developing student literacy through the administration of the library media services program. Provide specialized instruction in information and technology literacy to students and staff. Oversee the selection, organization, utilization, and maintenance of library media resources.

Performance Responsibilities
  1. Partner with teachers to enhance classroom learning by making the library a supportive element of the instructional program (Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum, foundational resources, etc.)
  2. Attend grade level or subject-specific PLC meetings regularly
  3. Facilitate lessons from the library curriculum
  4. Manage the library media budget collaboratively to develop a diversified collection of resources
  5. Organize library materials for efficient utilization and circulation
  6. Create an inviting atmosphere in the library for reading, communication, and learning
  7. Coordinate logistics for book fairs and other library events
  8. Stay current with trends in the field
  9. Supervise the work of the library media assistant
  10. Maintain the Follett Destiny catalog
  11. Assist in creating and assembling library displays
  12. Support the Technology Support Department with student device loaner best practices
  13. Assist with basic technology troubleshooting for students
  14. Manage check-in/check-out of foundational resources
  15. Maintain accurate knowledge of content and Illinois State Standards
  16. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or School Librarian Endorsement (preferred)
  • Strong background in computer and information technology
  • Relevant teaching experience or coursework in the specific class
  • Professional Educator License
  • Ability to speak a second language (preferred)
