Library Media Specialist (FT) (Immediate Hire)

The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is seeking applications for a NYS Certified Library Media Specialist to serve in a shared librarian position between the Union Springs Central School District and the Southern Cayuga School District.

Reports To:

School Library Systems Coordinator

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
  • Current New York State certification as a Library Media Specialist.
Work Year:

10 Month Position

Salary:

Per Teacher Contract and commensurate with experience (Estimated between $54,308 - $65,000).

Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective instruction on media literacy, database and internet research, source evaluation tools, and digital citizenship to students and staff.
  • Develop an inclusive, flexible, collaborative, and inviting library program for all students and staff.
  • Collaborate and co-teach with classroom educators on media literacy instruction within the curriculum.
  • Maintain the library for effective distribution and circulation of materials and coordinate services.
  • Develop appreciation for literature and non-fiction among students.
  • Facilitate access to information-rich resources for research for students and adults.
  • Encourage exploration of the world through print and online resources.
