Lawton Public Schools is seeking a Library Assistant to support the Library Media Center in a dynamic school environment. You will process books, assist with circulation, read with students, and help manage digital systems and records.

The role requires strong organizational skills, teamwork, and confidentiality. You will contribute to a safe, inclusive learning space and assist with events and book fairs as directed by the Library Media Specialist.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must pass criminal history background check and fingerprinting.
• Proficiency with office machines, computer skills, typing, and organization.
• Ability to cooperate in a team and manage multiple projects.
• Protect confidentiality of student, staff and program information.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Library Media Specialist in operating the Library Media Center in a safe, inviting and collaborative learning environment.
• Process books and materials for shelving.
• Read and share literature with students.
• Maintain patron, item, and circulation information in Follett Library/Resource Manager.
• Learn and use digital systems such as Follett, Google Workspace for Education, Seesaw, Accelerated Reader as needed.
• Perform general clerical duties such as typing, statistics, and assisting with financial records, maintaining files, answering phones, and inventory tracking.
• Assist with book fairs, class activities, technology needs, and other LMS-directed tasks.
• Empower all learners to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, researchers, and ethical information users.
• Champions equity, access, and intellectual freedom and supports 24/7 access to online catalogs and resources.
• Supports learners’ success by guiding reading for understanding, breadth, and enjoyment.
• Models digital citizenship and safety and adherence to copyright and fair use.
• Promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion in collection development and learning communities.
