Job description

Do you enjoy interacting with a wide range of people while providing excellent customer service? Sampson County Public Libraries seeks part-time customer service focused Library Assistants to join our team. The ideal candidates will be personable, tech-savvy, eager to learn, and adaptable.

Our Library Assistants provide library services at the circulation desk, which includes checking materials in and out; answering the phones; answering reference, technology, and reader's advisory questions; instructing patrons how to use library equipment and resources; accepting payment for fines and fees; shelving materials; and other duties as apparent or assigned.

Evening and weekend work will be required as well as the flexibility to work at any of the four Sampson-Clinton Public Library branches as assigned. Hours for this position will be scheduled to meet the needs of the library. This role requires the ability to perform physically demanding duties related to checking in, checking out, shelving, and transporting library materials.

• Please note: These positions are time-limited and subject to end June 30, 2026. Hourly rate is $15.23.
  
  

Minimum Education And Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred candidates will have previous customer service experience. Valid NC Driver's License at time of hire is required.
