The Library Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for library patrons, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine custodial services throughout public and staff areas, including reading rooms, offices, restrooms, meeting spaces, and entryways. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness while working independently and providing excellent customer service in a quiet, professional environment.
This position works primarily indoors in a public library environment that serves patrons of all ages. The work environment includes reading rooms, offices, meeting rooms, computer labs, public spaces, restrooms, staff areas, and entryways. Employees are regularly exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, trash, and normal custodial conditions. The position requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive motion throughout the shift. Work may be performed during mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on library operating hours and facility needs. The successful candidate must maintain a clean, professional appearance and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and customer-focused environment for all library visitors.
