Job summary

Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library District is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker to support cleanliness, upkeep, and safety across three library facilities. The role works with all Library staff to create a welcoming environment and performs a variety of building and grounds tasks.

The position requires basic trades knowledge, ability to operate hand and power tools, and a commitment to reliable service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience.
• Experience with plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical repairs, HVAC and masonry preferred.
• General knowledge of common hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine facility, grounds, custodial and maintenance activities.
• Repairs plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC and masonry.
• Inspects and cleans meeting spaces and common areas.
• Performs electrical repairs and basic wiring.
• Maintains inventory and moves equipment between facilities.
• Provides high-quality customer service to vendors, customers, and staff.
• Follow safety rules and assist in emergencies.
• Performs other related duties and special projects.
