Job summary

Okeechobee County is seeking a Library Program Coordinator to plan programs, maintain inventory, coordinate with vendors, and handle administrative functions of the county library. The role supports community outreach, communications, budgeting, and grant reporting under the Library Director.

You will use Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and other technology to support operations, assist in reports and records, ensure grant compliance, train staff, respond to inquiries with excellent service,

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standard professional library methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of library materials and resources.
  • Knowledge of the services and operations of a public library.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Library System (ILS).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Canva, Trello and related software applications.
  • Ability to manage state grant requirements with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and other technology applications to support library operations, communications and development.
  • Support budget preparation, purchasing activities and maintain purchasing records to ensure compliance with County procurement procedure.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive twelve (12) month program and events schedule.
  • Assist in creating, researching, compiling, and analyzing reports, records, statistics, and correspondence for County staff, State agencies, Library Advisory Board, and community organizations.
  • Ensure program compliance with State Aid Grant funding requirements and other funding sources.
  • Provide operational guidance, training, and technical support to library staff and volunteers regarding library services, technology, policies, and procedures.
  • Respond to telephone, electronic, and in-person inquiries regarding library programs, services, policies, facilities, and community resources while providing excellent customer service.
  • Maintain and organize information and materials on community services and resources.
  • Develop, and maintain library website content, social media platforms, and marketing materials for electronic and print distribution to promote library programs, services, resources, and community initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community members, volunteers, staff and vendors.
  • Serve as acting supervisor in the absence of the Library Director by overseeing daily library operations, providing guidance to staff, addressing operational issues, and ensuring continuity of services.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
  • May serve as an essential worker during declared emergencies.

Job description

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of standard professional library methods and practices.

Education And Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an AA degree in Library Science, Business or Public Administration or related field.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a library, educational or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
