Job description

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist patrons with library materials, including locating books, periodicals, and other resources.
  • Assist the public with the correct use of the catalog, copy machine, and computer equipment.
  • Maintain library materials by proper shelf order and process materials for library files.
  • Prepare statistical reports and type assigned reports.
  • Assist with other library records management or projects, and shelve books.
Other Job Functions:
  • Maintain and assist with processing materials.
  • Perform other library and clerical functions as required.

Must be available to work Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., during library hours.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of library techniques and procedures is desired.

Physical Requirements:

Constantly sees and hears; frequently stands, kneels, operates PC, performs data entry, stoops, twists body, walks, writes by hand; infrequently answers the telephone, files, sorts, sits, types, operates a printer and calculator; can carry, hold, lift, drag, and pull objects weighing up to 30 lbs., push objects weighing up to 70 lbs., and squat.

Education/Experience:

High school graduation or equivalent; minimum six months of library or records management experience, including typewriter and/or PC experience.

Applicants will undergo data entry and a library skills test. Selected candidates will be subject to a background check and drug/alcohol screening.
