City of Universal City is seeking a part-time library clerk to support customer service, circulation, and clerical tasks at the library. The role emphasizes creating and distributing marketing materials, managing social media calendars, and assisting with displays and programs.
Responsibilities include helping patrons with the online catalog, TexShare databases, and using Microsoft tools, while maintaining records and schedules.
The library clerk performs customer service, clerical, and paraprofessional duties that support library functions. These functions may include any of the following: opening and closing the library, organizing and running the circulation desk, recording library statistics, scheduling and processing Meeting, Activity, and Study Room requests, processing patron notifications for overdue materials, processing new patron accounts, shelving books and maintaining order in the collection, providing program assistance to the staff, and organizing monthly library displays. The clerk provides information services to the public, explains and assists with using the online catalog and the electronic databases, and locates materials within the library. The clerk provides patron assistance in the use of the library computers and Microsoft productivity software.The Main focus of this clerk position is to create and distribute library marketing materials, assist with managing library social media platforms, create and organize library displays, and create and provide program assistance, planning, and support.

This is a part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week. Emphasis is on providing customer service at the circulation desk. These hours may increase during times when the library is understaffed, or additional coverage is needed. Regular days and hours of work include weekdays, weekends and evenings and may change at any time, with or without notice, to accommodate the needs of the department and the City.
An employee in this position may be required to drive a vehicle to various meetings, functions, and events, including traveling out of town to represent the City at meetings, conferences and for training.
