Job summary

Brunswick County's Harper Branch Library in Southport seeks a Library Assistant to help children and caregivers select resources, promote reading, and present Storytime and other age-appropriate programs for all ages. The role also involves circulation desk duties, shelving, shelf-reads, and assisting patrons with computers, eBooks, catalogs, and online resources.

Evening and weekend hours are required, and the position may float to other branches.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's degree or equivalent.
• Experience in a library setting is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons at the circulation desk and with resources.
• Organize and present Storytime and other age-appropriate programs.
• Shelve materials, perform shelf-reads, and process new materials.
• Help patrons with computers, eBooks, the catalog, and online resources.
