Job summary

The Carson City Library is seeking a full-time library support specialist to assist patrons, handle circulation tasks, and support reference services. You will work with computer lab functions, cataloging, and book processing, contributing to a high level of customer service.

Qualified applicants will have two years of college in library sciences and two years of library customer service experience, plus strong computer/system skills and effective communication with a diverse public.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to two years of college in library sciences and two years of library customer service experience or an equivalent combination.
• Ability to operate library computer systems and cataloging tools; knowledge of standard office practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide complex technical and library support work with independence.
• Answer patron questions and instruct in use of library systems.
• Shelving and upkeep of materials and facilities.
• Manage fines, payments, and notices; process loans and reserves.
