TITLE: Apply Library Assistant - Part-Time
Margaret Estes Library

LOCATION: Longview

DATE POSTED: 05-02-2025

REPORTS TO: Director, Margaret Estes Library

SCHEDULE: Part-time, 20-29 hours weekly as needed. Office hours are primarily weekdays, but evening and weekend hours may be required.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith who is committed to Christian higher education and integrating faith with learning. The Margaret Estes Library is seeking a part-time access services librarian to provide oversight of circulation services, research assistance, and manage the interlibrary loan service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meet the library needs of faculty, staff, residential, and global students.
  2. Manage interlibrary loan service.
  3. Provide library reference services.
  4. Perform circulation desk tasks.
  5. Maintain shelving system according to Library of Congress classification.
  6. Manage library information systems.
  7. Maintain library administration files and library calendar.
  8. Supervise student workers.
  9. Assist with the university archives and R.G. LeTourneau Museum.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Communicate frequently with students, faculty, and community members, exchanging accurate information. Operate computers, productivity equipment, and machinery.
  2. Evaluate digital, print, and archive materials, including various font types and sizes.
  3. Move audiovisual and library equipment and books weighing up to 50 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a research-intensive field (e.g., English, theology, business, psychology); Master’s Degree preferred. MLS/MLIS highly preferred.
  2. Organized and detail-oriented.
  3. Excellent customer service skills.
  4. Ability to work independently.

SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
