Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Library Assistant for its GEO Secured Services division.

Under direct supervision, the Library Assistant performs daily maintenance of the library, including ordering, cataloging, circulation, and management of periodicals and materials, and provides information on the card catalog. The role involves organizing circulation, training detainee library aides, selecting books and materials for purchase, conducting inventories, and preparing accurate records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Bachelor’s degree in library sciences or related field or provisional/professional Librarian Certification preferred.
• Attends educational seminars, conferences, and professional development activities.
• Experience and/or training preferred in assisting in the operation of a small institutional library preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Library Assistant maintains and organizes the circulation of library materials.
• Assists in the directing and training of detainee library aides.
• The Library Assistant assists in the selection of library books, periodicals, and materials for purchase.
• Conducts library inventories, prepares, maintains, and reports records pertaining to circulation, inventory, newspapers, and magazines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
