Job description

About the team | Ko te rōpū nei

Akaroa Community and School Library is a joint use school and community library managed by the Christchurch City Council. The library provides a service to the Akaroa community, including seasonal visitors, and also offers the Akaroa Area School full access to library resources and support for their learning and teaching programmes.

About the role | Ko te mahi nei

The successful candidate will:

  • Help customers by recommending reads
  • Assist with information enquiries
  • Aid with technology needs
  • Work with the collection
  • Meet the minimum qualifications: NCEA Level 3 (UE or equivalent) and 12 months customer service experience OR 3 years customer service experience and a demonstrated commitment to continuing education
  • Show a genuine willingness to help others
  • Have some flexibility in working hours to support the team
  • Navigate difficult moments with resilience to help people succeed
  • Understand and demonstrate in word and action an understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to Christchurch City Libraries
  • Be committed to continuous personal learning and growth

Hours of work: 13 hours per week, Wednesday 1pm-5pm, Thursday 9.30am-2pm, Friday 9.30am-2pm

Position: Permanent Part-time

Location: Primarily based at Te Kete Wānanga o Te Ao Marama - Akaroa Library

Salary: $28.51 to $31.68 per hour, based on knowledge, skills, experience, and relativities within the organisation
