Job summary

Lamar University Library is seeking a Librarian to provide research services, information literacy instruction, and outreach to support the research needs of Lamar University and Lamar Institute of Technology constituents.

The role emphasizes scholarly activity, collaboration with faculty, and participation in professional service in line with tenure guidelines. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Experience delivering library instruction, reference, or other instruction in an academic library.
• Working knowledge of research strategies and library resources.
• Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
• Experience collaborating with faculty, students, staff, or community members.
• Passion for supporting student and faculty success.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver team-based research services, including in-person and virtual consultations.
• Provide instruction through one-shot sessions and library orientations for for-credit courses and partners.
• Develop instructional materials (lesson plans, tutorials, videos) and collaborate across the curriculum.
• Promote workshops and outreach, build exhibits, and serve as liaison to departments on emerging technologies and scholarly communication.
• Engage in scholarship and professional service aligned with tenure and promotion guidelines.
