Job Description - Librarian Pool (2025-2026) (25002536)

Job Summary

Develops and implements school library programs for non-traditional schools to promote the effective use of ideas and information. Collaborates with librarians across MNPS to foster creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking in school libraries.

What you will do
  • As an instructional partner, integrates information literacy throughout the school’s curriculum and provides professional development opportunities for teachers on best practices for instruction and technology.
  • As an information specialist, makes resources available to students and teachers through a systematically developed and organized collection of library materials.
  • As a program administrator, maintains an updated print and digital collection.
  • As a program administrator, prepares financial plans for the library including an annual budget.
  • As a program administrator, pursues professional growth and learning opportunities.
  • Provides library services to non-zoned secondary schools, including the use of public library materials and delivery.
  • Collaborates with secondary librarians on the use of instructional resources and electronic databases.
  • Provides support, informal and formal TEAM evaluations for school-based librarians.
Education Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership Required.
Experience Qualifications
  • Requires no prior experience but training and certification as a librarian Required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with team, department, and stakeholders throughout the district.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning tools and digital content.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Applicant must hold a valid TN teaching license with either Librarian K-12 (073) or Lib in Sp PK-12 (473) endorsement Required.
Equivalency

Starting At: $52,048.58

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
