Job Description
I Section Management
- Operations Planning
- Identifies and proposes the goals of the Section, in alignment with the mandate of the Rizal Library.
- Oversees the implementation and evaluation of the services and programs of the Section, based on the goals and quality standards set for the Section.
- Develops metrics that will systematically monitor and track achievement of goals.
- Recommends, monitors, and enforces operating standards, guidelines, procedures, and workflow of the Section.
- Benchmarks practices and new technologies to optimize and advance Section resources.
- Coordinates and collaborates with Rizal Library Executive Team and Section Heads for projects and services involving the Section.
- Operations Implementation
- Oversees the organization and inventory of the section’s resources (print and digital collections) and ensures the physical upkeep of equipment.
- Conducts reviews of existing collections, weeds out superseded library resources in obsolete formats.
- Oversees the proper setup of requested library resources, equipment, and facilities, and the usage of collections.
- Coordinates with service providers (internal and external) for maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
- Reporting and Information Dissemination
- Prepares and submits budget requests, financial reports, statistical reports, project reports, and other required reports.
- Coordinates with the Web Librarian in updating the Section’s webpage.
- Staff Development and Management
- Manages staff performance by setting standards or targets, monitoring, evaluating, and developing interventions to address performance gaps.
II Library User and Client Support
- Monitors and attends to online (email, social media) library queries and requests.
- Attends to in-depth queries and reference questions of library users.
- Conducts Reader’s Advisory Services to guide users on materials relevant to their research and interests.
- Creates bibliographies for specific topics as requested.
- Coordinates and conducts library orientation and guided tours of the Section and Rizal Library.
- Develops and conducts tutorials and training on research and online resources.
- Creates library guides and FAQs.
- Coordinates with IT to ensure reliable access to electronic resources.
- Develops and maintains professional networking to enhance services.
- Recommends and evaluates collections for acquisition, repair, preservation, or digitization.
- Evaluates library databases and system applications.
III Performs other tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of library operations and standards.
- Knowledge of current trends in higher education and academic libraries.
- Ability to conceptualize and design marketing and promotion materials.
- Skills in planning, leading, organizing, and controlling.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS) or a related field.
- Licensed librarian.
- At least four (4) years of professional library experience.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
