Job summary

The Jackson District Library invites applications for Librarian I. This full-time, non-exempt role supports the department, serves patrons, and collaborates with staff to develop impactful library services.

The successful candidate will hold an MLIS or be actively pursuing the degree, have readers advisory experience, and be proficient with library databases and search techniques. The position includes evenings and weekends and a benefits package including health insurance and pension.

Qualifications

• MLIS from an ALA-accredited college or university.
• Experience in readers advisory and knowledge of library best practices.
• Solid understanding of current technology, databases and search techniques.
• MLS/MLIS or active progress toward degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Support department managers to serve the needs of patrons and staff.
• Interact with patrons and provide superior customer service.
• Serve as a resource for staff on collections and programming.
• Contribute to collection development and community collaborations.
• Organize personal work responsibilities with minimal supervision; lead with optimism.
• Work evenings and weekends as required.
