Job Summary

This position is responsible for technical services in providing access to content owned or accessed by the library. It encompasses Cataloging and Electronic Resources. This Librarian represents the interests of the Technical Services Department as a whole by leading strategic initiatives related to improving access and discovery. Evening and weekend work will be required. May also provide services at Camden location.

Plans, organizes, maintains and manages the operations of the Technical Services Department including Cataloging and E-Resource Management. Takes the lead in developing strategic cataloging and metadata for resources.

Develops, communicates, documents, and trains staff on Library Management System and local metadata policies and procedures.

Collaborates with other Library colleagues to ensure a unified strategy for resource acquisition, discovery, delivery, access of scholarly resources, and maintaining the overall organization of the librarys collection

Troubleshoots access problems, liaising with vendors and internal IT staff and GALILEO staff to ensure consistent access

Serves as the lead in exploring innovative tools and methods in streamlining processes for creating, cleaning up, and optimizing bibliographic metadata.

Performs cataloging and authority control and maintains bibliographic and authority records

7 -
Assists library users in finding and accessing resources

8 -
Performs Reference, Instruction, and General Public Service as needed

Provides other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
-An ALA-accredited Masters degree in librarianship/information science or course of study related to the occupational field

Other Required Qualifications
-Demonstrated proficiency and capabilities with software and library relevant information technology applications.

Required Experience
-Experience with an ILS and national bibliographic utility
-Cataloging experience in an academic, public or special library setting utilizing current cataloging metadata standards and schema, MARC21, LCC, LCSH, RDA, FRBR, and emerging linked data standards using metadata management tools (e.g., RDA, MARCEdit, OCLC Connexion, Access, authority control, batch processing techniques).

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
-Experience with adding resources to GALILEO, Institutional repositories, FOLIO or other Library Management systems or virtual library systems
-Project Management experience

ABILITIES
-Ability to incorporate new technologies and innovations into existing operations.

KNOWLEDGE
-Technological proficiency with demonstrated aptitude for learning new software and systems.
-Demonstrated ability to efficiently plan, manage and implement multiple projects and priorities in a technology-rich environment.
-Familiarity with Library Management Systems.
-Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures including Teams and Zoom.

SKILLS
-Skill in collaborating with multiple constituents.
-Skill in decision making and problem solving
-Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
-Skill in oral and written communication.
