Job summary

Greater New York Insurance Companies seeks a Claims Examiner to assess and defend claims against our insureds. The examiner reviews policies to determine coverage, investigates liability, and evaluates damages such as property damage or medical records.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, 2+ years of premises liability experience, and familiarity with ImageRight, WINS, Excel and Microsoft Office; CPCU/AIC/SCLA designations are preferred to advance within the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 2+ years of experience handling premises liability claims.
• Familiarity with ImageRight, WINS, Excel and Microsoft Office a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify coverage for each claim, including policy review and comparing to allegations by the claimant.
• Conduct factual investigations directly or with investigators.
• Review and analyze contracts, leases, governing documents, business records, public records, medical records, and property damage scopes.
• Set reserves timely; make fair settlement determinations.
• Negotiate settlements and follow company protocols.
• Direct defense counsel and monitor discovery; maintain file notes and diary.
