Job summary

The City of Fresno is seeking a Risk Analyst to support its risk management and loss control program. The role involves evaluating liability exposures, handling claims, interpreting regulatory requirements, and collaborating with departments, legal counsel, and external stakeholders to reduce risk and ensure compliance.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Public Administration and have two years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• Two (2) years of experience in loss control, risk management, workers’ compensation, insurance underwriting, or employee safety.
• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
• Public agency/governmental claims experience, or property or liability adjusting experience is desirable.
• This position requires possession and continued maintenance of a valid California Driver's License.
• Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.

Responsibilities

• Review, investigate, and analyze liability claims involving the City, including general liability, property damage, and worker-related incidents.
• Conduct risk assessments and identify trends to recommend preventive strategies.
• Coordinate with claims administrators, attorneys, insurance carriers, and departmental staff to resolve claims efficiently and cost-effectively.
