Mercor is seeking a Domain Expert – Legal (Lexis+ Research) to perform high-precision legal research for AI-related work. This contract role is remote and pays $76–$120/hour.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of professional legal research, frequent use of Lexis+ for substantive tasks, and a JD with bar admission or equivalent research-heavy experience. Work involves verifying cases, statutes, and regulations, catching misdescribed authorities, and ensuring proper citations and date currency

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional legal research experience

Responsabilités

• Verify current status of cases, statutes, and regulations and ensure proper Shepard's treatment
• Identify non-existent or misdescribed cases and verify quotes, holdings, and pin cites
• Maintain jurisdiction-specific splits and cite accuracy across sources
• Confirm currency and operative dates of laws
• Distinguish binding vs. persuasive authority and require verification before finalization
