Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center Grounds Maintenance

The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center highlights some of the area’s most famous travelers and residents over hundreds of years along this special stretch of the Missouri River. Each of our galleries tells the story of different groups. Nearby, visitors can step back in time at the reconstructed Fort Mandan, a fully furnished, full-sized replica of the fort in which the Lewis & Clark Expedition overwintered in 1804-1805. Their time here was characterized by the hospitality of the Mandan and Hidatsa peoples. In fact, this is where they met and built friendships with such important figures as Sacagawea, Toussaint Charbonneau, and Sheheke-Shote.

Job Duration: Flexible! Now through October 31, up to 40 hours per week. Start and end dates negotiable.

The maintenance employee will execute their responsibilities with a positive attitude, neat appearance, and friendly demeanor. The successful applicant will:

• Landscaping activities including lawn mowing, string trimming, and tree pruning.
• Maintain general cleanliness of the site, which involves removing trash, picking up debris, sweeping, and ensuring public areas are clean.
• Maintain machinery and tools in proper working order.
• Perform some painting of structures, both interior and exterior.
• Assist in setting up for room rentals, including any room rentals outdoors.
• May assist with interpretive gardens, including weeding and maintenance.
• Complete tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including holidays, and the potential for weekends and evenings.
• Must be able to lift/move 50 pounds.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work with other team members.
