Position Summary
The Level III Rope Access Supervisor actively leads field and offshore operations with fellow rope access technicians. Responsible for safety management, work site organization, supervisory roles, and providing leadership to work crews on various projects.
This position requires travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations to perform inspections, support project needs, and deliver technical expertise. Travel will be mostly domestic with potential for some international travel.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Inspect offshore structures, vessels, and pipelines for appurtenances in conformance to specifications, using fixed or preset measuring instruments.
- Examine materials or products for anomalies, damage, or defects such as cracks, pits, incomplete welds, holes, dents, excessive corrosion, etc.
- Communicate and coordinate with Oceaneering project/operation managers and customers to maintain workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Take cathodic potential (CP) readings using a “drop-cell” technique.
- Create drawings and sketches to supplement written data.
- Manage inspection and replacement of equipment, along with logistical tasks to maintain readiness.
- Travel out-of-town or overseas, sometimes with short notice.
- Provide or arrange on-the-job training, mentoring, and assessment of team offshore.
- Serve as a Level III Rope Access Supervisor, carrying out project management offshore.
- Ensure team adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks before work begins.
- Follow all SOPs, SPRAT & IRATA guidelines, and instructions from the Global RA Manager.
- Perform maintenance and repairs meeting industry standards and client specifications.
- Document findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify hazards and implement risk mitigation measures.
- Maintain and inspect rope access equipment for good condition.
- Communicate project updates and address client concerns.
- Collaborate with clients to understand inspection needs.
- Perform additional tasks to support organizational objectives.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Minimum two (2) years of Level III Rope Access experience.
- Valid Level III Rope Access Certification (SPRAT or IRATA).
- Experience with onshore and offshore projects.
- Proficient with inspection tools and equipment.
- Must possess or obtain TWIC, driver’s license, passport, Safe Gulf & HUET Water Survival, and other offshore work documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and report writing skills.
- Deep knowledge of rope access techniques, safety, and inspection standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and management systems.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, work at heights, and in harsh environments.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities under deadlines.
- Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Willingness to travel and work offshore for extended periods.
- Physically fit for rope access work.
DESIRED:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with Inspection and NDT.
- Additional inspection certifications (e.g., NDT Level II, ASNT Level II, Petzl PPE).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS:
- Report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret instructions and apply mathematical concepts.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work with limited standardization.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Offshore work in various environmental conditions, including extreme weather, noise, hazardous materials, heights, water, confined spaces, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
- Use of PPE required; on-call for emergencies; travel and flexible hours needed.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/REQUIREMENTS:
This is heavy work involving lifting 50-100 pounds, working in confined spaces, heights, and performing repetitive movements. PPE and safety gear are mandatory.
