Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to provide patient and family-centered care within the surgical services team. The role supports physicians during preparation, examinations, and procedures, documenting findings and vital signs in the medical record.

Licensed CST with NBSTSA credentialing and current BLS certification are required, with at least one year of CST work experience and a focus on safe, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or surgical technology military program.
• Minimum of one year of work experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
• Credentialed as a CST by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (formerly LCC-ST).
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists medical staff with preparation, examination and procedures, including interviewing and screening patients, documenting findings and vital signs.
• Perfoms telephone and in-person screenings and prioritizes patient calls regarding medications and conditions.
• Cleans and stocks examination rooms and other supply areas and documents care in the medical record according to policy.
