Hi-Way Paving Inc. is seeking a Level A Diesel Mechanic for our Charlotte operations. This role is primarily shop-based with field service support for active projects.

You will perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel trucks and heavy equipment, working independently on routine fixes and assisting others with major component work. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of diesel/heavy equipment experience, proficiency in hydraulics and electrical systems, and strong welding

Qualifikationen

• 5-7 years of experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic, strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and undercarriage components.
• Experience working on tracked construction equipment.
• Advanced welding and fabrication skills.
• Ability to read service manuals, hydraulic schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Must be able to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones.

Aufgaben

• Perform preventive maintenance on on-road trucks and off-road heavy equipment.
• Diagnose and perform advanced repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Service and repair air and hydraulic brake systems.
• Troubleshoot suspension, steering, and drivetrain components.
• Inspect and repair tracked undercarriage systems (rollers, idlers, sprockets, chains).
• Maintain and repair dozers, excavators, pavers, rollers, loaders, skid steers, and related equipment.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and control systems.
• Perform cooling system, fuel system, and exhaust repairs.
• Replace and repair transmissions, differentials, final drives, clutches, and track drive motors.
• Conduct equipment inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA standards.
• Utilize diagnostic software and scan tools to identify faults.
• Perform structural and major fabrication repairs (MIG, stick, oxyacetylene).
• Respond to field service calls for on-site diagnostics and repairs.
• Accurately document work performed, parts used, and labor time.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
