Person specification
As an Associate Project Manager apprentice, you will play a vital role in supporting the project team in the delivery of projects. You will do so by maintaining systems for accurate planning and scheduling.
Your responsibilities will include creating and updating project documents, organising meetings with key stakeholders, and handling information requests.
You will also assist in tracking project expenditures, ensuring timely payments to suppliers, and keeping the project within its budget.
In addition to the above you will be responsible for meeting deadlines for coursework requirements set by the learning provider. Your manager will support you for the duration of the apprenticeship and ensure you are on track to achieve your qualification.

Essential Criteria
- Level 2 Qualifications – 5x GCSEs 9-4 (A-C) (or equivalent) and must include Maths and English
- Not undertaking another apprenticeship or government funded qualification at the same time.
- Have the right to live and work in the UK, have a valid passport/birth certificate, permit and National Insurance number.
- Have lived in the UK and/or EEA for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date.
- Not be in full-time education or undertaking another apprenticeship, or be in receipt of any other Department for Education (DfE) funding during the apprenticeship programme (including DfE funded Further or Higher Education e.g. a degree). If you are currently completing or have completed any other apprenticeship or further education programmes, we will need to check your eligibility.
- Able to work at least 30 hours a week to meet the minimum duration of the apprenticeship (if you work less than 30 hours, you can still train as an apprentice and the minimum duration will be extended).
Who can start an apprenticeship?
To start an apprenticeship, you’ll need to be
- 16 or over
- living in England
- not in full-time education
You can apply for an apprenticeship (opens in a new window) while you’re still at school but you’ll need to be 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays to start the apprenticeship.
Please note if successful you must be 16 or over to undergo the relevant security checks.
A condition of your employment is the successful completion of your apprenticeship including the End Point Assessment, within the expected duration of 24 months. Failure to meet this requirement may result in HMRC removing you from the Apprenticeship Programme and/or terminating your employment.
Your training requirements and probation period will run concurrently. If you do not successfully complete your probation and/or the apprenticeship—where it is a specific requirement of your role—your employment with HMRC may be subject to termination.

There Are Five Stages
Stage 1: Short Application form
You Will Be Asked To Complete
A basic application form, detailing your personal details and confirming whether you meet the eligibility criteria.
Stage 2 - Online tests
After submission of the first stage of your application, you will be invited to complete the Civil Service Verbal Test and the Civil Service Work Strengths Test. If you successfully pass the tests, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application.
Please complete these tests as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended), the closing date for the campaign, including the completion of the full application form, stated below is

If you fail to complete the online tests and full application form before the deadline your application will be withdrawn. Guidance for the tests will be available when you are invited to take them. The tests are administered online and accessed via the CS Jobs website.
We reserve the right to increase the scores for all tests. You will be informed if you have passed or failed the raised standard.
Successful candidates will be invited to the next stage of the selection process.
Stage 3 - Full Application Form
If you are successful at the previous stage you will be asked to complete the following
- A name-blind CV detailing the required mandatory qualifications as stated in the Essential Criteria.
- A 500 - word Personal Statement covering examples of how you meet the "About you" section of the Person Specification for this role.

Stage 4: Sift
In the event of a large number of applications being received, an initial sift may be held on the CV.
At full sift your CV and Personal Statement, will be assessed, with the successful candidates being invited to interview.
We may also raise the score required at any stage of the process if we receive a high number of applications.
Stage 5: Pre-Recorded Interview
If you have been successful in previous stages you will be invited to a pre-recorded video interview, where you will be assessed on the following Behaviours - Changing and Improving and Communicating and Influencing. Further details will be provided with your invitation.
Stage 6: Microsoft Teams Interview
If you have been successful at the previous interview stage you will be invited to a Microsoft Teams interview.
During the Teams interview, you will be assessed on the following Behaviours - Working Together and Delivering at Pace, you will be asked Strength based questions. Further details will be provided with your invitation.

Online Tests – Banked Scores
When an applicant has a banked score they are not asked to retake the same test, providing it is:
- set at the same job level, and
- within the same system.
Scores will be banked for six months, or until a new score benchmark is applied, whichever is sooner. This means that if a candidate applies for another vacancy at this grade they may not have to retake the test within that time, and their previous score will be used for the new vacancy.
