Job summary

Sustainable Partners Ltd. is seeking an experienced Level 3 Field Technician to join our Baltimore solar team. You will lead field technicians, troubleshoot and commission solar PV systems, and perform site assessments and customer walkthroughs on commercial and utility-scale projects.

The role requires hands-on expertise in electrical safety, maintenance, and mentoring junior staff, with a focus on delivering high-quality solar asset care and customer service in a field setting.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with commercial or utility-scale solar PV systems.
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, grounding and electrical safety.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair solar PV equipment.
• Experience with commissioning and site assessments.
• Experience leading or mentoring field technicians.
• Understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Comfortable working independently in a field-based environment.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
• Experience with Lockout/Tagout and electrical hazard assessments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee field technicians across maintenance activities, inspections and projects.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on solar modules, inverters and electrical/BOS components.
• Lead and execute solar commissioning activities.
• Carry out site assessments, technical inspections and customer walkthroughs.
• Perform QA/QC inspections across third-party sites and contracted assets.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and communications issues across PV systems.
• Support maintenance of solar PV, BESS and EV charging systems.
• Conduct Job Hazard Analyses, electrical safety assessments and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Ensure work is completed in line with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Provide technical guidance, training and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Support project planning, estimating, labour/material requirements and technical solutions.
• Work directly with customers, vendors, subcontractors and other stakeholders.

Job description

We’re currently looking for an experienced Level 3 Field Technician to join a growing solar team in the Baltimore area.

This is a senior-level field position suited to someone with strong hands-on experience across solar PV systems, electrical troubleshooting, commissioning, maintenance and site inspections, who is also comfortable leading and mentoring other technicians.

Experience or certifications in:

• EV Chargers
• NABCEP PV Installation, Inspection, Commissioning or Energy Storage
• NFPA 70B
• Medium Voltage
• NETA Level 3 or 4
• Journeyman or Master Electrician licence
• PV tracker systems
• Aerial lift / MEWP / rough-terrain forklift operation
• Networking or coding
• Electrical commissioning and testing
