Job Description
MVED is hiring for a Level 3 Behavioral Support Special Education Paraeducator. This position involves working with students in a self‑contained special education program or a special education classroom for students with significant behaviors and needs that are related to disabilities, such as emotional/behavioral disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. This position would require supervision of high‑energy students that would need one‑on‑one care.

General Summary
- Special education paraeducators assist students with special needs under the direction of a licensed teacher. The special education paraeducator assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, helps special needs students, and cares for their physical, emotional health, and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships. Responsibilities may include assisting teachers to provide support to students in the areas of academic assistance, physical assistance, behavior monitoring, and data collection.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Experience working with children and an interest in working with special needs students
- Post‑secondary education, previous experience working with students with emotional/behavioral concerns or autism, and/or previous experience in a school setting preferred
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assisting students in achieving academic success
- Working with students who may be non‑verbal, aggressive, disruptive in class, and elopement from the classroom
- Behavior support includes physical management, monitoring, possible assistance with hygeine care(training provided upon hire)
- Social integration
- Consultation and collabortaion with special education teachers and realted service staff
Salary
- The salary for this positon will be in accordance with the MVED Paraeducator Master Agreement.
- Starting at $16.86 (pay depending on experiece & education)
Duty Days
- Student contact days until June 5, 2026
- 6.75 hours/day (7:45 AM - 3:00 PM)
