The Level 2 Test Engineer (TE) supports and executes a wide range of test and evaluation (T&E) activities, including assisting with Level 1 tasks based on experience and training. Responsibilities include researching and applying Government T&E concepts across engineering, acquisition, and operations; planning and executing performance analysis; reviewing acquisition approaches to align T&E with decision‑maker needs; and analyzing performance risks to inform planning.
The TE will specify, validate, and adapt modeling and simulation, apply statistical analysis to assess performance variability and confidence, and design sampling approaches to manage uncertainty. They will plan and execute data collection, develop and use analysis tools, and carry out evaluation plans using collected test data.
Additional responsibilities include planning and coordinating program‑ and event‑level testing; assessing system requirements, operational environments, and testability; and collaborating with Systems Engineering and stakeholders to support evaluation planning and user participation. The TE will establish and manage data and configuration processes, support data authentication, and ensure compliance with reporting standards.
The role also involves developing evaluation documentation (e.g., evaluation plans, analysis plans, data requirements, risk assessments, and reports), contributing to Government T&E deliverables, designing SME/user surveys, and participating in integrated product and test teams. The TE ensures test readiness—including training, equipment, and compliance—coordinates instrumentation and facilities, and executes testing and data collection in accordance with approved plans.

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
