This senior position requires the ability to serve as the technical lead for planning and design of federal and other civil works projects, playing a key role in advancing Hanson’s federal government civil works initiatives across its regions.

A Day in the Life of a Levee & Dam Safety Engineer at Hanson

Here’s a snapshot of what you would do in this role:

  1. Lead and manage civil works and flood damage reduction projects, including all aspects of design, scope development, staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and client relations.
  2. Oversee daily activities of project staff, prepare plans and contract documents, and coordinate with various disciplines.
  3. Apply sound risk management practices and ensure quality assurance throughout project cycles.
  4. Participate in staff performance evaluations and coordinate project priorities with technical teams.
  5. Promote growth of Hanson’s civil and geotechnical engineering skills and mentor staff.
  6. Contribute to strategic business development efforts, including client relationship building, proposals, and regional collaborations.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in geotechnical, structural, or civil engineering.
  • PE license and at least 10 years of experience in civil works projects.
  • Experience with levees, dams, flood risk management, and concrete dams.
  • Knowledge of dam safety and permitting processes.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams from study through construction phases.
  • Proficiency in project management and design meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Ability to use project management software and develop client proposals.

Additional requirements include willingness to travel, work overtime as needed, and possess a valid driver’s license.
