Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Payload Operations Engineer to manage satellite payload subsystems and support in-orbit testing. This onsite day-staff role is based in Lanham, MD, with occasional weekend/holiday/on-call requirements to provide 24x7 payload operations.

You will work with SOC, NOC, and subsystem engineers to maintain payload health, script automated tasks, and ensure commercial service levels. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or a STEM field required.
• Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience; Master’s degree or more experience preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate payload tools to configure payloads for in-orbit testing and commercial service.
• Monitor telemetry and logs to evaluate payload health and performance.
• Coordinate payload system configuration changes to maintain service levels.
• Collaborate with SOC, NOC, and subsystem engineers on issues and updates.
• Develop and maintain automation tools for payload operations.
• Support system readiness and planning for satellite milestones.
• Participate in shift handovers and required training sessions.
