GENERAL FUNCTION

The Assistant Manager acts as a leader in the absence of, or in support of, the Store Manager and behaves as a business owner within the marketplace and LensCrafters organization. Represents LensCrafters as the premier destination for all vision needs within the community and delivers key performance metrics.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivers quality and improvement to meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs):
    • Comp Sales, % Sales to Plan; Conversion & Customer Count, Comp Growth; Increased Traffic; Store Operating Profitability; Continuity of Care, Exam Growth & Retention Goals; Net Promoter Score; Current year objectives
  • Demonstrates understanding of retail business and transfers knowledge to improve sales and results. Learns about competitors and market trends.
  • Supports the store manager in diagnosing the business and leveraging Retail, Lab & Doctor synergies to drive results.
  • Supports business plans to maximize sales & profit, addressing opportunities for recovery.
  • Partners with store manager to lead a team with strong knowledge & skills.
  • Provides training & guidance to team members.
  • Delivers constructive feedback timely.
  • Informs store manager of situations requiring development or disciplinary actions.
  • Supports recruiting, helps select high-caliber team members, and creates a talent pipeline.
  • Follows staffing guidelines.
  • Maintains store appearance & executes visual directives.
  • Builds positive relationships with doctors.
  • Ensures team compliance with company policies & goals.
  • Anticipates problems, explores root causes, and seeks long-term solutions.
  • Performs administrative duties and maintains a safe work environment.
  • Works flexible schedules, including nights & weekends.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of management/supervisory experience with direct reports
  • Knowledge of retail operations, processes & policies
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Familiarity with cash registers, computers & calculators
  • Proficiency in English for all communication
  • Strong communication & listening skills
  • High-level selling skills
  • Proven problem-solving ability
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • College degree or equivalent
  • Leadership experience in retail & customer service
  • Knowledge of basic optics
  • Knowledge of current store merchandise
  • State licensure or ABO Certification (if applicable)
  • Brand Final Inspector Certification
  • Brand Quality, Fitting & Adjusting Program
