Job summary

IDEX Health & Science, a unit of IDEX Corporation, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Coatings in West Henrietta, NY. You will support production, assist Manufacturing Engineers, and drive process improvements and training on coating lines.

The role requires a high school diploma or technical associate degree, 8 years of vacuum chamber experience, and strong skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. It is a site-based position with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or technical associate degree required.
• Minimum 8 years of experience working with vacuum chambers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated problem solving and strong communication skills.
• Ability to train production staff on new or updated processes.
• Organized, motivated, and able to prioritize tasks without supervision.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Engineering on process development and production concerns.
• Troubleshoot chamber issues to resolve downtime and improve yields.
• Expedite work orders and provide status updates as needed.
• Move parts on/off Manufacturing Hold with IQA coordination.
• Evaluate optical measurements and adjust processes accordingly.
• Write, develop and update work instructions for manufacturing.
• Lead value stream improvements and track KPIs.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Coatings Manufacturing Engineering Technician will be a key resource on our Manufacturing Operations team supporting production and Manufacturing Engineers in sustaining and optimizing manufacturing processes, instructions, and training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Work with Engineering on process development and production concerns
• Understand failure modes and assist in troubleshooting chamber issues to resolve downtime.
• Assist in expediting work orders through the area and deliver status updates as required
• Ensure timely movement of parts on/off Manufacturing Hold while working with IQA.
• Evaluate optical measurements and make process adjustments.
• Spectrophotometry experience/knowledge
• Escalate tooling or other manufacturing gaps preventing line down where possible
• Understand the process flow for the area of responsibility
• Work with vendors on production equipment.
• Ability to learn new software to support production such as writing scripts
• Track and Maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPI) metrics.
• Write, develop, and update work instructions as required
• Attend Daily Management Meeting and proactively elevate issues affecting production and quality.
• Provide on-the-floor training to manufacturing associates on new processes or equipment
• Lead value stream process improvements.
• Provide input to manager on areas performance and opportunities for improvement.
• Must be able to work scheduled shift and overtime as production schedules require.
• Other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or Technical Associate Degree
• Minimum of 8 years working with vacuum chambers
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to interface with all levels of the organization
• Experience documenting Manufacturing Processes
• Demonstrated training effectiveness of production staff on new or updated processes
• Organized, motivated, approachable and able to prioritize multiple tasks without direct supervision

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $54,200.00 - $81,400.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
