Schedule: Full-Time Nights, 10K Sign On Bonus

Shift: 3 x 12 hour shifts, 7pm-7am

The community you’ll be caring for:

Our newest hospital in the Kansas City metro area — AdventHealth Lenexa City Center — will include around-the-clock emergency care, surgical services, and inpatient beds for medical-surgical and short-stay units.

The new campus will include:

  • 244,000 square feet
  • Capacity for 98 total beds (44 on opening and 54 slated for future expansion)
  • Four operating rooms (two upon opening and two slated for future dates)

The role you’ll contribute:

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs various laboratory procedures in assigned areas as licensed/certified. Work involves analytical testing of blood and/or human biological specimens, requiring a moderate to high degree of theoretical and practical knowledge. Duties may include pre- and post-analytical work processes, and on-call hours may be required. Follows laboratory policies, maintains quality control, and actively participates in customer service and team relationships.

  • Performs pre-analytical activities such as equipment maintenance, specimen collection, and inventory control.
  • Performs tests and analytical procedures accurately and efficiently, adhering to standards and regulations.
  • Performs post-analytical activities, reports results, and provides support for all age groups.
  • Provides orientation and training to new employees and students, acting as a preceptor as needed.
  • Guides technicians and support staff, resolves customer service issues, and supports clinical staff.
  • Follows safety policies, including PPE use, chemical handling, and waste management.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and supports departmental functions.
  • Assists with evaluation of new techniques, data collection, and reporting.
  • May assess competencies per CLIA regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, biological sciences, or related field.
  • Preferred: Two years of technical experience.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • American Medical Technologists or American Society for Clinical Pathology certification.
