Job summary

Legislative Reference Bureau is a nonpartisan legislative support services agency that provides drafting services to the Illinois General Assembly. The Staff Attorney will deliver legal assistance necessary to prepare bills, amendments, resolutions, and other legislative documents for General Assembly members, legislative staff, state officers, and officials.

Qualifications

• Excellent writer with ability to produce clear legislative documents.
• Able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with staff and legislative clients.
• Must uphold confidentiality and trust placed by the General Assembly.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal assistance to General Assembly members, legislative staff, and state officials to draft bills, amendments, resolutions, and other legislative documents.
• Assist in preparing legislative documents with accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain professional communications with Bureau staff and clients.
