Job summary

VanEck's Legal Summer Intern program in New York offers hands-on exposure to corporate and securities law. The intern will work under the supervision of the General Counsel, supporting multiple business units and gaining practical experience in drafting, research, and contract review.

The 10-week program runs from June 7 to August 13. Ideal candidates are currently juniors or above, with strong communication skills and a demonstrated interest in finance and regulatory matters.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and prepare summaries for projects and regulatory initiatives
• Review, edit, redline, and proofread contracts, disclosures, and SEC filings
• Assist in preparing and filing SEC registration statements and other submissions
• Support drafting and review of private fund documents and governance materials
• Assist with negotiation and management of contracts with third parties
• Participate in legal team meetings and contribute to workflow and compliance discussions
• Collaborate with attorneys on cross-functional projects involving compliance, operations, and business teams

The Legal Intern will join VanEck's New York office and, under supervision of the attorneys in the Legal Department, will gain hands‑on experience in corporate and securities law while providing legal support to various business units within the company.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Conducting legal research and preparing written summaries to support ongoing projects and regulatory initiatives
• Reviewing, editing, redlining, and proofreading contracts, disclosure documents, and SEC filings
• Assisting in the preparation and filing of SEC registration statements, supplements, and other regulatory submissions
• Supporting the drafting and review of private fund documents, agreements, and corporate governance materials
• Assisting with the negotiation and management of contracts and agreements with third parties.
• Participating in legal team meetings and contributing to discussions on department workflow, compliance matters, and strategic legal issues
• Collaborating with attorneys on cross-functional projects involving compliance, operations, and business teams

This position provides meaningful exposure to corporate, securities, and investment management law, and gives the student the opportunity to apply legal knowledge in a professional setting while developing practical skills in legal drafting, research, and client interaction.

Qualifications

• Interest in one or more of the following: finance, laws and regulations
• Strong communication skills
• A working knowledge Excel and familiarity with Bloomberg are helpful but not required
• Roll up your sleeve work ethic

Education And/or Experience

• Currently entering junior level (3rd year) or beyond within a 4-year college program
• Some experience within a corporate environment is helpful but not required

Compensation

• The maximum hourly rate for this position is $25 an hour
