Job description

The Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General Liz Murrill, is seeking applications for a Legal Secretary in the Litigation Division. Salary offered will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected.

Minimum Qualifications:

The duties of the Legal Secretary include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing recurring duties independently
  • Organizing and maintaining paper and electronic records
  • Maintaining records for time, travel, and expenses
  • Scheduling meetings, hearings, and creating calendar invites

Additional duties may include:

  • Performing legal secretarial duties for assigned attorneys
  • Assisting in preparing pleadings, memoranda, briefs, and legal documents
  • Proofreading and editing correspondence and reports
  • Ensuring documents are accurately mailed or submitted
  • Maintaining case files
  • Preparing materials for meetings, hearings, or trials
  • Inputting billing and administrative data
  • Serving as time administrator for the section
  • Performing other support duties as assigned
