The Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) within DHS enhances children's well-being by locating non-custodial parents, establishing paternity and support orders, enforcing and modifying support obligations, and managing child support payments. DCSS also runs outreach programs like Fatherhood, Prison Re-Entry, and Parental Accountability Court to increase parental involvement.

DCSS is seeking candidates for the position of Legal Secretary 1. This role is based at the DCSS office in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, GA.

Pay Grade: F

Under supervision, assists in preparing legal documents and court preparations.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, parties, and court officials.
  • Manage case files, documents, and references.
  • Prepare legal documents such as summonses, subpoenas, complaints, motions, and agreements.
  • Retrieve, copy, and distribute files and documents.
  • Schedule appointments, maintain calendars, and handle phone calls.
  • Type and edit legal documents from notes or dictation.
  • Perform additional professional duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or GED AND one year of office experience using computer software.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • One year of experience in a legal office environment.
  • Two years of office experience reviewing legal documents and using legal software.
  • Two years as an administrative assistant or secretary.
