Job summary

Skadden, Arps...LLP seeks a Legal Pricing Analyst to analyze financial data, build pricing models, and provide insights guiding pricing decisions for matters across the firm.

The role focuses on developing pricing strategies, evaluating scenarios, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with partners, senior management, and clients to optimize profitability and client service.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial data, prepare pricing models, and provide decision insights.
  • Analyze documents, interpret results, and provide pricing support to partners, management, and clients.
  • Develop pricing models and evaluate scenarios to satisfy client requirements.
  • Prepare cost estimates for legal services across practice areas for prospective and existing matters.
  • Draft fee-related language for RFPs and suggest competitive fee structures.
  • Measure and evaluate performance of matters and portfolios against billing arrangements.
  • Analyze historical matter data and prepare custom categorizations of legal services.
  • Compile and analyze utilization and realization data; recommend pricing to sell services profitably.
  • Monitor market trends and competitors’ pricing strategies; adjust models as needed.
  • Engage attorneys in pricing discussions using knowledge of practice areas.
  • Maintain related databases; join data from various sources and summarize findings.
  • Monitor budgets, revenue, and realization against targets.
  • Leverage precedent and data to support decision-making and process improvements.
  • Provide knowledge to increase understanding of pricing and client accounting processes.
  • Demonstrate strong communication to facilitate work relationships.
  • Manage firm resources responsibly and comply with firm policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Role Summary

The Legal Pricing Analyst assists in analyzing financial data, preparing pricing models, and providing insights to inform decision-making. The Analyst supports the development and execution of pricing strategies that align with the Firm's financial goals and client service objectives.

  • Analyze documents, interpret results, and provide pricing support to partners, senior management, and clients to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Develop pricing models and evaluate scenarios to satisfy client requirements.
  • Prepare cost estimates for legal services across all practice areas, for both prospective and existing matters.
  • Draft fee-related language for RFPs and suggest competitive fee structures.
  • Measure and evaluate performance of individual matters and portfolios against billing arrangements using established metrics.
  • Analyze historical matter data and prepare custom categorizations of legal services to satisfy client and matter-specific requirements.
  • Compile and analyze data and historical statistics on utilization and realization, recommend pricing to sell services profitably.
  • Monitor market trends and competitors’ pricing strategies to maintain industry standards, recommend adjustments to pricing models.
  • Engage attorneys in substantive dialogue regarding the legal work to be priced, using knowledge of the Firm's practice areas.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance of related database.
  • Join data from various sources, interpret findings, and summarize within the context of legal services provided.
  • Monitor and analyze performance of individual matters and portfolios against established budgets, revenue and realization.
  • Leverage precedent and historical data to problem-solve and support effective decision-making with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Provide relevant knowledge and support to increase understanding of pricing and client accounting processes.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to facilitate work relationships.
  • Manage Firm resources responsibly.
  • Comply with and understand Firm operation, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of the full MS Suite and relational databases, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills to synthesize, interpret, and summarize quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Solutions-oriented critical thinker, able to leverage historical data, market trends, and precedent to support decision-making and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to collaborate with attorneys, management, and clients, and to present findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion, exercise independent and sound judgment, and inspire confidence in others.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-constituent environment.
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a team, fostering a collegial and professional environment.
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in financial analysis, pricing, or a related role, preferably within a professional services or legal environment.

Salary and Compensation

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.

Salary Details $100,000 - $110,000
